Latin American Poker Tour launched

The reach of poker has extended from North America to Europe to Australia and Asia and is now making its live tour debut in South and Central America.
|
Pokerstars has launched the first Latin American Poker Tour, with rounds taking place in Costa Rica, Brazil and Uruguay. With the recent addition of the India Poker Tour, poker appears to be conquering the world!
The Latin American Poker Tour will begin on May 3rd in Rio de Janeiro, with a 3 day event and a prize pool of $600,000. Buy-in will be $2,500. Other scheduled events will take place in San Jose, Costa Rica from May 22-24th and in Punta del Este, Uruguay from August 7 9th.
South American poker pros like Humberto Brenes a successful Costa Rican player with 2 WSOP bracelets - and Andre Akkari Brazils best-know player - will be playing at the tournament. Tour president Glenn Cadematori described Latin America as 'one of the fastest growing poker regions'.
Each of the three events is expected to attract at least 250 players, from South America, the US and Europe.
Wannabe participants will have the chance to qualify online through the Pokerstars site.
