Rumours circulate over mystery poker player [Tuesday, March 11, 2008]

Unnamed player lost $600k to pro Phil Ivey
Mystery player Seda1 is in the headlines for record losses while playing No Limit Holdem online last week at Full Tilt Poker.
|
Poker pro Phil Ivey, holder of 5 World Series of Poker bracelets, played heads up against Seda1 for 6 hours, finishing $600,000 better off. They played at the $500/$1000 heads-up table, the so-called Ivey Deathmatch.
Gossip has run wild, with speculation that Seda1 is a fellow pro like Daniel Negreanu, a celebrity like Jay-Z or a sports star. The most likely rumour is that the mystery player is in fact wealthy lawyer Shawn Sedaghat, who played in the 2005 WSOP and is known to frequent high-stakes poker games.
The two players seem to know each other and coordinate games so that they are at the same table online. However, Mr Ivey is keeping quiet on the identity of the poker partner who is lining his pockets.
Online poker players should be aware that the nickname you choose tells your opponents something about you. If you ever make it big time or suffer a huge loss your nickname could well be splashed all over the news, so its worth taking the time to think of a good one. And if you really want to remain anonymous, think of a better alias than the start of your name.
